Simiter

The Simiter (alternatively Simutér, rel. simulat tér, to feign life), also known as Simulacra, Pretenders, Holy Amalgamations and False World-Eaters and are a small but diverse group of Blazing Kin and sometimes called a divine species, though it is more accurate to refer to them as group of practicioners of the same basic strategy of attaining power closely inspired by the Kalazakchi.

They are creatures that parody the consumption of essence by instead consuming identity and consciousness, attempting through it to recreate, or reconstruct, the essence of the given creature, and use such manufactured but incomplete essence to thrive. In practice, they take the form of large predators that lure their prey into enormous traps, killing the true essences of the creatures they consume. As such, they have been historically connected with the Void and it is from the simiter that some of the Void's symbolism has been revealed, such as the Desert House.

Characteristics

Most simulacra are associated with hiveminds, and concepts capable of creating a shared consciousness. In the case of the Simulacrum that gave rise to Arumis, this vector of omnisapience was technology, allowing the entity to attain and create files and profiles for countless identities and reconstructing a "virtual" essense. Another known simiter, the Hallway Monster, uses nightmares and dreamscapes, being itself completely formless, tied to the atoms of the area it happens to linger in after aimlessly passing through space.
