Dragons

Dragons (rel. muurqetex, "wise flying king") are a group covering many different species of, as their relifica name implies, "wise flying kings". They are defined as respected, enormous creatures capable of flight that rival g-ds in power and attain a high level of reverence and standing. Dragons belong into many different biological groups, from insectoid (like the Cubic Moths) to mammalian (silverstripes).

Characteristics

Dragons belong under the arschei megafauna, requiring a minimum of one ton of body weight to qualify, however, no animal under 30 tons is typically considered as a dragon. They tend to reach large body sizes, often comparable or exceeding buildings, and in some examples even stellar bodies.

Most dragons are sapient and capable of communication, though not necessarily speech. They prefer to live solitary lives, or among members not of their own species, though there are exceptions to this; those that create long-lived, complex and branching communities with a varied history and unique culture.

A defining characteristic of a dragon is its ability to fly. Of course, all dragons share it, but the note of interest is the many similar species of the Great Beasts this excludes by necessity -- mainly wyrms, leviathans and serpents, arguably the sister kinds to dragons, three-jawed worms and many aquatic and landbound species. Dragons either fly with the use of bird-like or reptilian multi-jointed wings, insectoid wings, or soulpower.
